Problems with 3D Viewing

3D Movies are quickly becoming very popular
but there are some problems with 3D viewing:

Headaches:

Solving this issue is one of the big challenges facing the latest 3D technology.

Some doctors are saying that headaches and visual disturbances are likely while viewing 3D movies. Michael Rosenberg, an ophthalmology professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, said: "There are a lot of people walking around with very minor eye problems, for example a minor muscle imbalance, which under normal circumstances, the brain deals with naturally."

But he said that in a 3D film, these people are confronted with an entirely new sensory experience. “That translates into greater mental effort, making it easier to get a headache.” A recent study by the University of California, Berkeley, concluded that 3D does cause headaches and blurred vision. Researchers say this is caused by viewers focusing their eyes at a distance and close up at the same time.

Special Glasses:

Having to wear special 3D glasses seems to be a huge problem with viewers. Consumers would much rather be able to watch 3D without having to wear glasses especially if they already wear prescription lenses. Those people will have to wear the 3D glasses over their regular glasses to view 3D TV

Unfortunately, developing the technology to view 3D movies without special glasses is still five years away.

When wearing the 3D glasses, room lights and computer screens may appear to flicker.

If you are not wearing the 3D glasses or you don’t have enough glasses for everyone in the room, those without glasses will see a blurry screen. Of course, 3D is just another feature of the TV set and will operate as a normal 2D TV too when not in "3D mode."

Unfortunatly, the 3D glasses can only be used with the brand of 3D television you buy so you won't be able to take your glasses over to a friend's house to enjoy a movie viewed on a different TV set.

Available Programming:

Other problems with 3D right now is that there is not much 3D programming available. The 3D Movies are being release slowly. 3D TV channels will be available soon, but there won’t be many of them to choose from for awhile

ESPN has launched a 3D version of its sports network called ESPN 3D DirectTV also plans to offer a 3D channel if you subscribe to their satellite service.
